1890 - Julius Andrae & Sons install an electric dynamo to serve as a private power system for the Layton Packing Company in South Milwaukee. 1897 - Andrae introduced the first incandescent light to Milwaukee. | ![]() |
1914 - "Julius Andrae Celebrates His 85th Birthday." Head of Milwaukee electrical and auto supply business, Julius Andrae & Sons. 1917 - Julius Andrae dies at the age of 88. 1924 - Frank Theodore (Terry) Andrae, President of Julius Andrae & Sons, purchases 92 acres of lake shore from a retired fisherman. | ![]() |
1926 - Herman Andrae removes the electric dynamo originally install in 1890 as the private power system for the Layton Packing Company in South Milwaukee. 1927 - Henriette Andrae donates all 122 acres of "pine dunes" lakeshore property to the State of Wisconsin after her husbands death. 1929 - Julius Andrae & Sons Company, the electrical supply house, is sold to Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co., and renamed Westinghouse Electrical Supply Co.
